What is the 3RVélo Verdun project?

Initiated by the Carrefour jeunesse-emploi de Verdun (CJE Verdun) summer of 2022, in collaboration with several community partners, 3RVélo is a socio-professional integration project aimed at Verdun residents aged 15 to 35. Its goal is to develop their professional, personal, and eco-citizen skills while promoting the use of bicycles as a sustainable mode of transportation.

Under the supervision of a dedicated team, voluntary workers recruited for the project offer bicycle maintenance and repair services in various neighborhoods of the borough, as well as a variety of activities related to cycling.

Voluntary workers will help democratize cycling and better equip fellow citizens, in addition to participating in the fight against climate change by:

– Putting into practice the principles of the 3RV (Reducing the quantity of products reaching the end of life – Reusing and refurbishing to give bikes and parts a new life – Recycling bicycles and parts that are out of use – and Valuing and recuperating used elements for new uses);

Offering activities and services to citizens, owners and employees of small businesses in Verdun / Nuns’ Island to encourage them to use cycling as an active and sustainable mode of transportation.

Specifically, here’s what you’ll be doing as a voluntary worker this summer:

Learn the basics of mechanics, road safety, as well as several other topics related to cycling by participating in training sessions (offered for free!);

– Under the supervision of a mechanic, contribute to the smooth operation of bicycle maintenance and repair kiosks by welcoming customers and performing basic repairs;
